The President is POTUS. The Supreme Court is SCOTUS. I don't understand "The Supremes"; "The Justices" has the same eleven characters (David chalks it up to attempted "cuteness"). Is Congress COTUS?? What role does the SCOTUS play in COTUS?
The mainstream media is MSM. OMG, WTF, LOL, ROTFL. We have become an acronymical society and the trend is an enemy to communication.
I want to start a movement. I'll call it the word movement. We will use words - the proper ones - to describe people, places and things. Imagine: The President will speak. The Supreme Court will judge. We will string words together to form complete sentences. Sentences will be arranged to form paragraphs and thoughts. We won't allow 140 characters to stop us from complete, clear thoughts. Text messages will deliver complete messages. We will laugh, guffaw, chuckle, crack up.

I have said and written repeatedly (probably not here) since the 90s that a first substantive step toward civility and a genuine improvement in our public discourse is to stop calling the public figures we criticize and hold in some measure of contempt by their first names or nicknames. This week there have been examples of worse than that. Bill, Hillary, Newt, et cetera in the 90s should have been President Clinton, the First Lady, Speaker Gingrich instead! Now, Gov. Romney, Sen. Santorum, Rep. Paul. It may seem insignificant, but in today's atmosphere, it's not. It's a positive step.

I agree completely Mr. Judge.

MR. Judge? So, I'm still assuming you are not criticizing me or holding me in some measure of contempt yet....

The Supremes is an easy joke for someone who listened to rock radio as a kid in the 60s...and went to law school. "Oo-oo...Baby Love!"
