Bringing back the Dart

"Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you the. . .Dodge Dart."  Que: "ooh's" and "aah's".  Dodge has brought back the Dart.  It looks nothing like the 1972 Dart Swinger I drove back in the day but the Dart is back and now my kids may get a shot to understand the love I once felt for a car.

Chrylser brought back the Challenger and the Charger, may I suggest another fine Dodge of my youth:  The newly redesigned Dodge Coronet Station Wagon?

Nobody rocks brown like Dodge.

    The Coronet wagon had "three on the tree" right?

      You bet it did.  That was my learner car.  Big ole' clutch.  First was down and in, second was up and out and third was down and out.  Reverse was up and in.  "The tank" was a fine vehicle.

    I dunno if they'll feel love for a car that:

    - has no CD player or iPod hookup;
    - no bass amplifier;
    - no temp control on the air conditioner (if it had an air conditioner)
    - manual roll down windows;
    - manual locks/no remote;
    - manual seats;
    - maybe no power steering;
    - rough riding bias ply tires;

    Couple of the good things I remember was The Brunette riding next to me and about 30 cents for a gallon gas...

    It was the Avanti I hungered for...

      The AM radio worked very well (plus me and my buddies added an 8 track).
      I believe the speakers WERE "solid state"
      It had the slide temperature control.  Heat was the red side and the blue side was the vent (ahh.  Fresh air)
      What with the new wellness kick, the manual windows and steering is perfect.
      Those tires were great for off-roading.

      The Avanti was exotic.

      When my Dart Swinger was destroyed in an accident (don't worry, it wasn't my fault) I moved "up" to a red Aries Station Wagon.  What a move that was.  A real chick magnet.
