"Rainy mild weather. Nothing frozen and no freezing so far. The records say we had the warmest December in 65 years.
Ritz and I were walking in Haight's woods this morning. Scared up a covey of quail and found the carcasses of two possums. Picked up some hickory nuts and planted them at different places. I do this quite often. You see, I'm reforesting. Saw beautifully figured shelf mushroom on a fallen sapling. Viewed the river valleys and their fine farms with a desire to own one. Gathered watercress and ate it for dinner. Rowdy is not home today. Probably in the country with Jake.
That five pound fish was not caught in 1931. I'm still after him. Only I might as well make it a 10# this year. As for the coon, I just didn't night hunt at all last year.
Getting store teeth was the outstanding event of my life in the last year. They are not perfect satisfaction but a whooping success compared with my aching natural ones. My ankle is still improving. General health is excellent as well as the family's. Our doctor bill for 1931 was $4.50. Have not had a cold this winter. Still wearing BVDs."
