"Very mild weather but has turned cold today.

We have had a marvelous Xmas at home.  Pretty tree, lots of presents and splendid radio program.  The radio I presented to the family.  The girls each gave me five dollars and I gave Ella the same and she me a new hat.  Rowdy got a big dinner which seems be the thing most desired by him and Ritzy another ball and another squacker thing.  Lots of other things.  Chester celebrated with us.  His car and our car took Gene's girl reserves on a caroling serenade with Dot and mama part of the time.  Xmas presents for me on the route were slim.  The 'depression' has affected the giving spirit adversely.  Old Santa is riding a mule - that is he is on his ass this year.

The dogs and I were hunting on the Foster island this morning.  We saw one rabbit.  The dogs trailed him for a while.  Then I jumped him, made a pretty running shot and bagged him.

A fine day.  'God bless us all, every one.'"
