Not funny but incredibly true
I was talking with a client recently about discipline. He was commenting about employees who are promoted to manager and love the idea but don't want to do the work necessary to actually manage their departments:
"They show up and want to fire Bob because he is horrible. I pull Bob's file and find good reviews with no improvements recommended. I find no previous warnings or write-ups and I say 'If Bob is so horrible why did he get such a good review? Why hasn't any of this horrible behavior been documented?' They leave my office and say 'HR won't let us fire anyone.'"
Execupundit documents the process devastatingly well if anyone ever actually talks to Bob.
