Music for Roctober - #7 - The Who
The beginnings of things are so often the best aren't they? We seem to gravitate to the beginning years of rock and roll for the best. It is often the same for artists; the first album, the first hit, the first years mark those groundbreaking memorable moments. It doesn't have to stop there but too often does. The one-hit wonders and the band that never lives up to its first album are a recurring theme in popular music.
This is not the case with The Who. Their first album was just the start of many great releases but The Who Sings My Generation included one of the greatest rock songs of all time, "My Generation". The song was composed by Pete Townshend as statement of his place in the world and prominently features lead singer Roger Daltry's angry stutter.
