We are the 99% - hand signals lesson

What was the sign for wrap it up?

Seriously?  A very funny comedy could be made out of this group.  I note that Obama (and Rep. Eric Cantor??) are (more) supportive.   Another 99er here.   Here is the video for Toto's song 99 (just popped into my head).

If I were there I would raise my hand (as instructed) make the "C" sign with my hand (as instructed) and then ask "why are you wearing a womens watch?"

What is your point? The video explains the method they have developed for promoting the civil exchange of ideas between hundreds of people who come together in a public place.

Compare this to what we so often: a protest leader with megaphone yelling rhetoric, with the crowd yelling or cheering in response. The video seems to be an attempt to be more constructive.

Would you be as critical of the video if they were gathered to fight for issues you relate to and agree with? I think there are communication and leadership lessons to be learned from the video but you were blinded to this because of your bias.

My point is humor.  I find their invention of these signals to be funny.  Civil exchange is possible without a new set of hand signals but they invent these to create their own language; to separate themselves.  They are no different than those in corporate America who revert to three letter acronyms to avoid clarity.  These are people who want "democracy" in a Republic.  Their goals are elusive - I believe on purpose.  I don't take them seriously because they should not be taken seriously.  Their value to me is humor.  I am not blind.  I see very clearly what they are attempting to do.

If they were trying to be elusive, you'd think they'd find a better place to hide it than television and youtube.

Now, now, now.  I said their goals were elusive.  And they are so on purpose.  That way they don't have to stand for something; merely against the 1%??

Good luck reasoning with people who are determined to misunderstand everything you say. I'd mention Uncle Remus's Tar Baby fable, because it applies here, but someone would accuse me of racism--thus proving my point. Good times.

Maybe the best answer is: "Read the post again, this time for comprehension."
