Music for Roctober - #20 - The Spencer Davis Group

Born in Birmingham in 1948, Winwood was 14 years old when he, his brother and Spencer Davis formed The Spencer Davis Group. King, Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley, using his Hammond B-3 skills to wow artists and audiences alike. He went on to be a member of Traffic and Blind Faith before embarking on an incredibly successful solo career. Winwood is worth exploring if you haven't already.

Winwood would have been 18 years old when he wrote what has become one of the greatest rock songs of all time. "Gimme Some Lovin'" rose to #2 on the UK Charts in 1966 and #7 on the Billboard Charts with a rewritten version that added percussion and a female chorus:
The video is a bit out of synch but worth watching as an early music video.
