This small wonderful world

The blogging world is a fascinating one.  I'm always interested in how people find CO and what they like or don't like (I'm not getting rid of the music).  I've told the story over and over but I started this site with an email to approximately twenty people.  I knew very little about "blogging"; only that I read a good bit and sent articles I read to friends.  Why not post those readings online and see what happened?  I somehow stumbled across the best blogging mentor a person could find in Michael Wade at Execupundit.  He did precisely what I wanted to do: posted articles and thoughts on management, business, ethics and culture.  So I copied him.  From his site, I discovered other sites and from those others.

I quickly learned that the ultimate compliment in this world was to post another's work.  That act spreads ideas through new outlets to new people as traffic whizzes along the information super highway.  A sort of virtual reading room is established and soon more and more people show up.  Some read; others read and comment, either agreeing or disagreeing.  An idea catches on, evolves and spreads.  I hope commerce comes from this although CO is an act of pure amusement, an electronic filing cabinet for me - Tim says it is a peek inside my mind, a look at what amuses me at the moment.  He is right.

Blogging sometimes gets a bad rap.  I've participated in conversations with people who have confused people commenting on local news stories at the online local newspaper with blogging:  "I don't read the bloggers" one person said recently referring to people commenting on newspaper articles.  It's a shame.  The right blogs spread great ideas and good comments are often very useful.  I am still amazed at the great and diverse advice I get reading the sites listed to the left of this posting.  I hope that when you read CO you also click over to some of the fine blogs on display over there.  Those sites are operated by attorneys, writers, realtors, undertakers, publishers, economists, professors, teachers, programmers, journalists, business men and women and quality experts from all over the world - not bad for an online resource.  My hope is that you use this small wonderful world to make yourself a little better.  I certainly have.

Blogging world is very fascinating, not only because ideas spread, but also because people come together and take the ideas forward, build on them, discuss, debate and enrich. It is a forward motion, which makes it powerful.

I am glad I jumped into blogging in 2006. This small wonderful world has bought a big difference in my life.
