Banned
Mme. Scherzo has a great point on the banned books week campaign:
"Oh please. Let’s talk book bans, shall we? You call these lame assed attempts by school boards and parents BANNING? What tripe. Ask Solzhenitsyn what a book ban feels like.
Now. Look at these friggin’ MOVIE posters. REALLY? All these highly profitable books and movies may have faced opposition, but there was no real outright banning in the sense that these books never saw the light of day, were never printed en masse and distributed. No. What I don’t see here is Gulag Archipelago or the BIBLE - possession of that book used to get you burned at the stake back before King James had it translated for the masses. In many cases, even now, owning a Bible in the Muslim world can get you thrown in jail and a death sentence. "

Okay, there are worse practices out there and in history...but should I minimize lesser banning issues today in my world?
Something makes me guess that Mme. Scherzo may not reside in a small town in the hinterlands. (Don't know about that.)
Not that I don't get sarcasm.
I think I'll keep an eye on MY SCHOOL BOARD...heh, heh.
