"Ella & Gene took the car and drove to Morrow Sat morning.  Expect to be back tonight.  Dorothea has been in Columbus but came back last night.  So the dogs, Chester and I have been here along.  Chester was home with his people most of the time.  He purchased a second hand car.  I went with him on his first real try out in driving it.  He got stuck up in the garage door.  This was his only mishap.  He brought me a fine watermelon from his father's patch Friday night.  Dick Armacost, Chester and I feasted on it and still there is some left.  Watermelon is one of my chief delights and this summer I have been fortunate in having it most of the time.

I have only bought two melons but George Brunskill has given me several from the cars that came in here and Chester has been quite thoughtful of my strong inclination along these lines.

Yesterday afternoon I caught a two-pound catfish in the little by stream that runs around the island just below the Tuscarawas bridge.  I was amusing myself with minnows when he took a hold and gave me a thrilling catch in the small pool.  This morning I have fished along the Tuscarawas with chicken entrails but caught nothing.  Lost several hooks.  Had some bank lines set.  Broke one leaving several hooks in the water.  I'm going over after a while and try to drag it out.

The three dogs are a nuisance while fishing but they are interesting companions.  Little Ritz is almost a part of me as he follows me so closely."
