Reason asks economists, writers and others what they would do to create jobs.
John Stossel's response is a good one:
"Close the Departments of Labor, Commerce, Agriculture, Energy, and HUD, then eliminate three fourths of all regulations."

In a radio interview, Ron Paul was asked what he'd do if he were emperor of the U.S. for a day. His answer was similar to Stossel's, though I'm pretty sure the Department of Education was in his list.
