As I drifted off to sleep, the news discussed problems with dishwashers not cleaning well. I perked up as the newscaster breathlessly explained that detergents were the problem (see post here).

Saw this story on Ch 4...they reported that the issue was the phosphates that had been removed to preserve life in the Great Lakes among other places. As they rapped up, they yucked it up as they pointed viewers in the direction to get the damaging substance back into the chain of life...seemed very troubling to me. Consumer life is what's important, I guess. I AM the dishwasher at our house. Never have used a machine for it. It's therapeutic and often has a musical soundtrack. A real sense of accomplishment and the best of clean, too! Been doing it for decades.
