I found Guinness for the first time in Germany. It was great on tap. It was years before I found out that I could buy it bottled here. It was good, but not as good as on tap. Years later, I finally had it on tap in the states and it was just as good as what I had in Germany and Ireland. If you do order one on tap, have patience. It takes a while to pour one from the tap, but worth the wait.
So, no, you don't have to go to Europe to enjoy the best Guinness. You can save the aggravation and have it just as good here. However, if you want to enjoy the pleasures of drinking while being an unwanted American guest in a foreign land, feel free to go to enjoy one in Germany.
I can't believe they questioned ANY beer as not being good for you. Of course Guinness is good for you. Seriously though, the calories are comparable to a light beer, so why not enjoy a beer with taste and have a Guinness? Reply to this
