I need to clean those gutters and get my chimney inspected before the first fire. I also need a spare bottle of Bushmills for my 72 Hour Kit. Busy, busy, busy.

Oh yeah, I remember.....cold. That's why I moved from the Poconos to South Carolina....our 72 hour kit....sun block and, extra sleeve of golf balls and a bottle opener for the beer.

You'll need snacks too. Don't forget snacks.

I'd add one item to the list and put it at the top: a whole-house gas-powered generator that turns on automatically when the power goes out. We installed one after the Christmas ice storm, and it's been well worth the price. Now, when the power goes out (as it tends to do in these parts when the wind blows), we have a dry basement, heat, running water, hot water, a cold fridge and chest freezer, use of the microwave, and electric lights in some rooms. (Of course, installing the generator before the ice storm would have been even smarter.)

I kind of like all the cords running out of my portable generator. Adds character to the place.
