We're from the government. . .

. . .and we'll screw it up.  Patrick Guanciale has an update on the financial reform legislation.  Limbaugh on Sarah Wallace's WSJ editorial.

It goes like this:  Large (insert industry - financial, insurance, food, etc.) corporations push the limits of or skirt regulations and create a "crisis".  The government steps in and proposes new regulatory efforts to "save" said industry.  The new legislation harms those companies that were operating within the law and functioning properly.  The large industries that caused the problem obtain contracts and invest in compliance efforts under the new regulations.  There is less competition, worse products and poor service for the consumer.

Sarah's op-ed was at the top of the Journal's opinion page, Tuesday, ahead of its own editorials and all other op-eds. Then Rush featured it on his show. And it's a fine piece of writing. Good for Sarah.

I agree.  As we approach the 4th or July, we have a government that has lost its way.  It has forgotten that it exists for the people, not the other way around.  As Rush noted, the administration can attempt to demonize industries into submission but that is a distraction for it attempts at grabbing power.  And that is what this is about:  Power.

Go to this clip and imagine Morgan Freeman talking about the United States Congress and you will have stepped into my dreams.
