Dress code

Our school has a new dress code.  I was discussing the code with some other parents at a recent little league game and one parent asked whether or not the teachers would have a new dress code.  She was concerned that the new student dress code would make the teachers look pretty rough.

Tim Blair has a suggested code for the teachers here.  Feel free to copy.

Very true. A simple area to lead by example.

I don't care one way or the other on the uniform. Schools make rules and children should comply. If they want reasonable uniforms, fine. It's not going to make a bit of difference one way or the other and that is the problem I have with uniforms.

I've learned that you attack the biggest problems first. I didn't know that the schools inability to enforce the current dress code was such a problem. Their solution, create another dress code. It doesn't make any sense. I see it as a diversion from the biggest problem which is lack of discipline.

Some schools do. My wife teaches at an academy school in the UK, and they have introduced a dresscode for teachers.

All are expected to wear a business suit, along with suitable footwear - no flip-flops / sneakers.

The teaching cadre there look professional, and the policy allows them to demand high standards of the pupils.

    I'm all in favour/
