Spengler is brilliant:

Humans spending their lives in a nanny state are like pets. They never grow up and are helpless on their own.
In earlier articles, Spengler says there's no precedent for this phenomenon in history.
Maybe this attitude has something to do with the hoplophobia in Europe, Canada, and the blue parts of the U.S.
