The death of common sense
Execupundit on the education establishment's elephant rifle approach to "assault":
"An assault is when a student intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly causes physical injury to another. Students who violate this will be immediately suspended, the Police will be contacted (Ages 9 and up), and a Review Board hearing will be conducted."
Sadly, these types of policies are often established to address the worst situations in schools. They are then enforced on average students while a blind eye is turned toward the regularly disturbing behavior of "anger management" students and other troublemakers. The bad law built around tough cases is applied to the routine cases while the troubling behavior continues unabated.
