"The day opened with a steady rain from the Northeast but slacked about ten o'clock and cleared into a windy sunny afternoon.

Brother Will died Sunday evening, September 29 at the age of 69.  He would have be 70 on October 25.  Blood poison in his arm supposedly caused by a washing powder.  He lingered in pain for several days putting up a hard fight for life.  The body continued to fight for two days after his will was gone.  Friday I told him I was on vacation.  He smiled wanly and said he was taking a vacation too - it has proved to be a long one.  Today we laid him in a pretty, rural cemetery just across two fields from his home.  His resting place is surrounded by the magnificent river valley hills - a beautiful place to lie, dead or alive.

My vacation extended from September 16th to 25th.  I caught one nice bass and secured another boat from Arthur but will have to do a lot of repairing on it.  My farm waters are over fished."

"Sister Zoda is visiting us for two days.  She will be 76 years old next December.  She is just as sensible as ever and preferred to walk to the picture show tonight.

I was asking her concerning our Mother's parents.  Mother's father's name was Enoch Morgan.  Her mother's name was Ann Berry - not so certain about the first name.  She died when about thirty years old and was a sister to Uncle William Berry.  Enoch was married again to Roen May and had two children that I know:  George and Dave Morgan, making them Mother's half brothers.  Uncle Billy Morgan was Mother's full brother.  Enoch died when about 50 years old.  Zoda did not know his parents but said there were three brothers of them.  Zoda was Assistant Postmistress when Father had the R.O. in New Gilford."
