Vacation movies
Some great vacation movies:
Others?
- What About Bob? - Eminent psychiatrist, Dr. Leo Marvin, gets a new patient right before going on vacation. Richard Dreyfuss and Bill Murray. Damn funny movie. He is one great scene (also a lesson on how to tell jokes since Murray is the king):
- Vacation - Chevy Chase plans to take the "whole tribe" across the country for a family vacation. Great clip here.
- On Golden Pond - Hepburn and Fonda, Maine, pond, fishing, yep, it's a vacation movie worth watching.
- The Man Who Knew Too Much - Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day are vacationing when the get tangled up in an assassination plot.
- The 'Burbs - I've already mentioned this one, but it offers the unique angle of a vacation at home.
- Without a Paddle - A buddy/vacation movie worth watching. I think this is a funny movie but I don't think it was a big screen success.
- Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - Steve Martin and Michael Caine are con men who bump into each other's con on a train in Europe. My favorite scene.
- Psycho - Watch where you stay on vacation.
- Deliverance - "I don't want any of this getting around."

It's an unmarried couple, not a family, but The Strangers is a sort of vacation movie. When things get too dull at our house, I'll put Mama Tried (Merle Haggard and The Strangers)on the stereo and crank up the volume. Never fails to get a rise out of everyone before the singing even starts.
