The quick and the dead

Idea Anaconda is on to something.  He thinks about why men don't like church.  I would add the revisions to The Bible have replaced some great strong phrases that are as compelling to read.

Thanks for the link. I think another reason that men don't like church is that we want a leader, whereas the modern church is the equivalent of parents who try to be friends to their kids.

I have a friend who describes the modern church's message as "there is a God, and he's just like me."  An extension of what Spengler refers to as the validation of our mediocrity.

      Love your site.

I guess I'm an exception to the rule. I've like church since childhood. I'm not sure that I can articulate why, but it's something that's never left me. I like some churches/denominations better than others, but if I go to any church, it's better than going to none at all. Am I sick, a religious nut, a crank, a woman in a man's body?

Not at all, John.  I've written before that I struggle with PowerPoint projections in church (I've experienced that).  I like the formal liturgy.  I like the old language.  I like learning it and understanding it.  I struggle with the gender-neutral Bible translations.  I struggle with some of the newer churches.  I like a church that is the rock (or anchor)  in a sea of change.

Well said. If we lived in the same place, we'd probably go to the same church.
