On his worst day. . .

When I hear my Republican friends talk about how unexcited they are about John McCain I always end up saying:  "John McCain, on his worst day, is better for this country than Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton on their best day."  Of course this shows my bias but, being a conservative, I also understand that sometimes the perfect can be the enemy of the good.

Aside from his stated policies, I have big concerns about Obama's time in the arena.  Sure, Democrats can argue that his lack of experience is precisely what is appealing about Obama, but too much has already come from the public vetting of Obama.

There is something justifiably reassuring about McCain's experience even though I differ sharply with him on campaign financing and many economic and social issues.  So what.  I still believe that a critical issue over at least the next decade will be terrorism and militant Islamic fascism.  McCain is better equipped to handle this issue than Clinton or Obama.

Hot Air has a good post on the choice here:

"After November 5th, either Barack Obama or John McCain will be President. We can be politically correct and claim that Bob Barr or Ralph Nader could somehow overcome the combined weight of the Republican and Democratic parties, but realistically they can at best act as spoilers. Uncast potential votes for either candidate makes it more likely their opponent will win; conservatives who sit on their hands make it more likely that Obama will win the White House."
