Association

How hard we work to teach our kids about the importance of associating with the right kind of people.  John Phillips asks an important question about Obama and Wright and then relates it to the work place:

"Why did Obama stay in Wright’s church for 20 years? You don’t stay in any organization for 20 years and not know what the organization stands for, what it’s CEO is saying, what kind of place it fundamentally is.  That’s what makes Obama’s initial response to (and to some extent his continuing contention about) this resurrected question disappointing to some."

I'd relate it to life as well.  I tell my kids to be leaders.  I tell them to be the ones to speak up and say that's not right or that's not funny.  The truth is that we are judged by those with whom we associate.

I used to tell my boys, "Don't give in to peer pressure. Impose peer pressure of your own."

It was fun to watch the looks on their faces.
