Live Music

This time of year makes me think of live music.  Some musicians can't make a live album to save their lives - ha, ha.  For example, I enjoy Foreigner but they have no business making a live album.  I am similarly unimpressed with Alan Parson's live work.  AC/DC does nothing for me on a live recording either.

However, there are some great live songs and here is my humble attempt to list the greatest:

  1. Bruce Springsteen - Detroit Medley - Hammersmith Odeon, London '75
  2. The Kinks - Lola - One For The Road (Hell, this whole album should be on the list)
  3. Eric Clapton - Signe - Unplugged
  4. Bob Seger - Turn The Page - Live Bullet
  5. Pat Travers Band - Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights) - Pat Travers Band Live: Go For What You Know
  6. Peter Frampton - Show Me The Way - Frampton Comes Alive
  7. Cheap Trick - I Want You To Want Me - at Budakan
  8. U2 - Sunday Bloody Sunday - Under A Blood Red Sky
  9. Janis Joplin - Piece of My Heart - In Concert
  10. Jackson Browne - Load Out And Stay - Running On Empty
  11. J. Geils Band - Musta Got Lost - Blow Your Face Out
  12. The Eagles - Hotel California - Hell Freezes Over
  13. Simon & Garfunkel - The Sounds of Silence - The Concert In Central Park
  14. Journey - Wheel In The Sky - Captured
  15. Supertramp - Fool's Overture - Paris
  16. Supertramp - Take the Long Way Home - Paris
  17. Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues - At Folsom Prison
  18. Frank Sinatra - One For My Baby (And One More For The Road) - At The Sands
  19. Sarah Vaughan - September In The Rain - At Mister Kelly's
  20. Genesis - Behind the Lines - Three Sides Live
  21. James Taylor - Steamroller Blues - James Taylor: Live
  22. Neil Young - Old Man - Live at Massey Hall 1971
  23. Tom Petty - Breakdown - Pack Up The Plantation: Live!
  24. Willie Nelson - Crazy - VH1 Storytellers
  25. George Jones - Who's Gonna Chop My Baby's Kindlin' When I'm Gone - First Time Live!
  26. Jimmy Buffett - Southern Cross - Buffett Live: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays
  27. Jimmy Buffett - Lawyers, Guns and Money - Millenium Concert
  28. Sting - Roxanne - The Secret Policeman's Other Ball
  29. B.B. King - Sweet Little Angel - Live At The Regal
  30. Michael McDonald - Knock On Wood - New York Rock and Soul Revue: Live At The Beacon
  31. Michael Stanley Band - Strike Up The Band - Stage Pass

I'm sure that I've missed some great ones, but my newest iPod Playlist is in good shape for this weekend.

That reminds me of songs that I forgot to add to my live mix.  I need Chris Wall, I Feel Like Singing Along, from Any Saturday Night in Texas.  I need Jerry Jeff Walker, What I Like About Texas, from Viva Luchenbach.  I need Jack Ingram, Make My Heart Flutter, from Live at Adairs.  I also forgot REO Speedwagon, Ridin' the Storm Out, from Live: You Get What You Play For.
