Diebold out of the gate with two (and a half) good decisions
Mayor-elect Bob Diebold has wasted no time, naming retired Newark police captain, Roger Stollard, safety director for Newark.
Stollard is a great choice for safety director. He is respected by the police officers, knows Newark and is a straight-shooter. Ask Roger a question and you get an answer to your question whether it is the answer you wanted to hear or not. I can't think of a better choice.
Diebold also made clear that the City of Newark will not be bonding to bring the Columbus Crew facility to Newark. It's not that a facility wouldn't be a good thing for Newark, it is simply not a project that the City of Newark should bond or pay for at the expense of other more critical priorities. See my opinions on this here.
That's two. The half is credit for taking the opportunity during his Columbus Crew comments to reiterate the importance of road improvements as a priority in Newark.
