The first week of school for my Newark freshman featured a substitute teacher in science class and the topic turned to global warming.  One political party, the sub explained, is in denial about global warming.  Does anyone know which party is in denial about global warming?  Republicans was the correct answer.  Why are they in denial?  A student answered that Republicans were old fashioned.  Wrong answer.  Republicans are in denial because they run and/or are supported by all the businesses generating the pollution that causes global warming.  It is good to know these things while you are forming your political identity said the substitute.  I challenge her to a debate on global warming and my 9th grade daughter will win.  Unlike the substitute, she has been taught the value of causal relationships, proofs and logic in a discussion.
